The United States men’s basketball team will take on host nation France in the gold medal match of the Paris 2024 Olympics basketball tournament at Bercy Arena on Sunday.

However, Serbia tested their resolve in the semi-finals. Despite trailing by 11 points after three quarters, the USA made an impressive comeback, scoring 31 points in the final quarter to beat world No. 4 Serbia 95-91.

France are also enjoying a good campaign on home turf. They finished second in Group B with two wins from three matches before beating Canada 82–73 in the quarterfinals.

France had previously lost to Germany in the group stage, but won against them in the semi-finals 73–69 to book their place in the final for the second time.

Australia, bronze medalists at Tokyo 2020, are out after one in the quarter-finals at Paris 2024. Defeated Serbia 95-90 on Tuesday.

France’s only victory in Olympic basketball came against the United States in the group stage at Tokyo 2020. However, when the two teams later met in the finals, the U.S. prevailed 87–82 and won its 16th gold medal in the event.

France has reached the final three times before, losing to the United States on all three occasions.
